Tennis set to open up PBC play against Flagler College.

Tennis Begins PBC Play With Flagler College

The men's and women's tennis teams will travel to St. Augustine, Fla. for the first conference match of the season.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Columbus State University men's and women's tennis teams will begin Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday, March 25. at Flagler College. The women are set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the men following shortly after at 1:30 p.m.

Men's: 
The No. 8 ranked Cougars come into this matchup with a current overall team record of 7-2. Flagler College is also ranked at No. 14 and will be entering the action with an overall record of 9-4. Flagler will be opening their conference play with a matchup on Friday, March 24. against the Bobcats of Georgia College before seeing the Cougars on Saturday. The last time these two teams met was in the 2022 Peach Belt Conference Tournament where the Cougars defeated the Saints 4-0 and became the tournament champions.  
  • Pietro Martinetti leads the Cougars in singles action with an overall record of 8-1. Following behind him are teammates Tommaso Schold with a record of 6-2 and Armin Trklja with a record of 6-1 in singles play. 
  • In doubles action, T. Schold is 6-3 in his matches and teammate Santiago Perez is 5-2 overall in doubles play. 

Women's:
The Lady Cougars are set to open up Peach Belt Conference play against the No. 8 ranked Saints with an overall record of 5-2. Flagler currently has an overall record of 9-3 and will open up their PBC play with a matchup against the Georgia College Bobcats on Friday, March 24. before seeing the Cougars on Saturday. The Lady Cougars last faced the Saints of Flagler College in the 2022 Peach Belt Conference Tournament where they defeated them with a score or 4-0 to become the tournament champions. 
  • Leading the Lady Cougars in singles action is Nikoline Gullacksen who is currently undefeated with a record of 7-0 on the season. Followed behind her is teammates Yelena Labat who has yet to lose a match she is in with a record of 3-0 and Luciana Galves sitting at 4-1 on the season. 
  • In doubles action, Mariana Ramirez has an overall record of 8-2 followed by teammate N. Gullacksen with a record of 5-2 in doubles play.
