AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Peach Belt Conference released the 2022-23 Men's Golf All-Conference Team and Columbus State University freshman
Bernard Meyer was tabbed the Freshman of the Year.
Martin Gruendemann and Meyer were also named to the All-PBC Second Team.
Meyer played all 25 competitive rounds for Columbus State in his first collegiate season, collecting three top-10 finishes. From Johannesburg, South Africa, he finished in 10th at the Hurricane Invitational, sixth at the Spring Kick-Off Invitational and eighth at the Bearcat Fall Invitational. He had 10 rounds at par or better and twice shot a four-under 68 which was the low round on the team. Meyer becomes the fourth Cougar to be named the PBC Freshman of the Year.
Gruendemann, a junior from Hamburg, Germany, led the Cougars with a 72.6 average score in 1816 strokes, placing him in the top-10 in the conference. Gruendemann finished tied for sixth place in the Hurricane Invitational on Feb. 28 with 213 total strokes.
Columbus State will compete in the PBC Championship in Augusta starting on Friday, April 22.
