TEMPE, Ariz. - Columbus State University's men's tennis standout,
Santiago Perez, was named All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The honorific "All-American" title is given to student-athletes that finish the season in the Top 20 of the ITA Singles Rankings and Top 10 in the final ITA Doubles Rankings.
In his first season with Columbus State, Perez immediately made his presence felt both on and off the court. Beginning in the fall, Perez won the ITA Southeast Regional singles and doubles titles before winning the ITA Cup singles championship just a few weeks later.
Holding the No. 1 singles ranking for the entirety of the season, Perez finished 23-2 on the season and was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year. His efforts helped lead the Cougars to yet another NCAA Championship, finishing in second place in the nation. He was also named the ITA national Senior Player of the Year in Division II.
