AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's golf team finished in second place at the Bearcat Fall Invitational hosted by Lander University on Sept. 11-12. The Cougars scored a 13-under 851, just nine strokes back from the winners, University of North Georgia.
Columbus State kept its rhythm in the final round, maintaining it's second place position. The Cougars shot a team total 288 in the third round compared to a 285 first round score and a 278 second, while
Martin Gruendemann and
Phil Snyman each had top-20 finishes.
Gruendemann led CSU finishing tied for sixth place. The senior from Hamburg, Germany shot par in the third round to give him a final score of 7-under 209. He shot a 69 and 68 on Monday. Snyman finished tied for 18th with a final score of 2-under 214. The Gold Coast native shot a 5-over 77 in the third round.
Bernard Meyer ended tied for 21st, shooting a 1-under 215. He repeated his second round score, 2-under 70, again in Tuesday's final round.
Karan Nalam and
William Makepeace also shot well for the Cougars, Nalam finishing tied for 33rd (2-over 218) and Makepeace taking tied for 49th place (4-over 220).Â
Lander University and USC Aiken each tied for third place, the University of West Florida finished fourth and Barton College took fifth place.
UP NEXT
Columbus State will compete in the UNG Invitational on Monday, Sept. 18 and Tuesday, Sept. 19 in Gainesville, Ga.
