GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's golf team finished the first day of the Mizuno Intercollegiate in third place with a score of 11-under 565 on Monday. The event is hosted by the University of North Georgia at the Chattahoochee Golf Club.
The Cougars shot a 7-under 281 in the first round and finished with a score of 4-under 284 in the second. Columbus State is sitting just one stroke behind North Georgia, who is in second place, and nine strokes behind the leaders of Lincoln Memorial.
Martin Gruendemann leads the Cougars, shooting a 6-under 238. Gruendemann shot a 4-under 68 to start the day off, then finished with a 2-under 70 in the second round to place hom tied for third. Meyer is tied for eighth with a score of 4-under 140. He shot 2-under in both rounds.
Karan Nalam shot a 2-under 142, placing him tied for 12th with scores of 2-under 70 and an even par.
Phil Snyman and
William Makepeace also competed for CSU, with Snyman currently sitting tied for 25th (1-over 145) and Makepeace is tied for 36th (2-over 146).
