Cougars Set for NCAA First Round vs. UT Permian Basin

The Cougars and Falcons will play at 8 a.m. at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The Columbus State University men's tennis team is set for the first round of the 2024 NCAA DII Championship at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The fourth-seeded Cougars will face 13th-seed University of Texas Permian Basin on Tuesday, May 21 at 8 a.m.

Columbus State is entering the championship as the fourth seed after winning the Southeast Regional #2 last week, beating conference rival the University of North Georgia 4-1. UT Permian Basin defeated Midwestern State University 4-3 in the South Central Regional on Monday, May 13. The Cougars hold a 15-7 record and the Falcons are 20-4 in 2024.

This is the Cougars' ninth NCAA Round of 16 appearance, with the latest coming in 2023 when CSU made it to the championship match, falling 2-4 to national champions Barry University. CSU has won one national championship in 2018 and has been runner-up three times ('19, '21, '23).
