No. 19-Ranked Cougars Finish Seventh at Mizuno Intercollegiate

Gruendemann led CSU with a T-11th finish

GAINESVILLE, Ga. No. 19-ranked Columbus State University men's golf wrapped up the 3rd Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate hosted by North Georgia after competing for two days at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga.

The Cougars competed in their second tournament of the 2024-25 season at the par-72 Chattahoochee Golf Club which played at 7,166 yards. CSU finished seventh out of 16 teams with a team total of 865 (+1).

Individually, Martin Gruendemann led the way for CSU finishing tied for 11th place, recording a three-round total of 212 (-4).

First Round

The Cougars opened with a first round of 285 (-3) to finish the opener tied for fourth place. Bernard Meyer charged ahead with a 6-under score of 66 to open the 54-hole tournament. Gruendemann followed with an even-par 72.

Russell Makepeace carded a 73 (+1) and was followed closely behind by Will Greene. Greene recorded a score of 74 (+2) in his first collegiate outing while Pate Stansell rounded out the Cougars with a 5-over 77.

Second Round

Columbus State recorded back-to-back scores of 285 (-3) on Monday, finishing the second round tied for fourth place alongside West Florida with a two round team total of 570 (-6). Meyer led CSU in the second round with a 3-under score of 69 to top the individual leaderboard with a 9-under total.

Gruendemann carded a 70 (-2) to finish the first day at 16th individually, followed by Greene's even-par round to finish 2-over through 36 holes. Makepeace finished round two with a 74 (+2) for a 3-over total while Stansell carded a 75 (+3) for a 9-over total.

Third Round

On Tuesday, Gruendemann notched another 70 (-2) to finish tied for 11th individual and a 4-under 54-hole total. Meyer finished tied for 16th individually after slipping in the final round by carding a 78 (+6), finishing the tournament 3-under.

Greene finished tied for 62nd alongside Makepeace with a final total of 7-over for the tournament. Greene carded a 77 +(5) on Tuesday while Makepeace marked a 76 (+4). Stansell rounded out the Cougars tied for 65th after finishing Tuesday's round even-par, totaling a score of 8-over for the tournament.
