Box Score 2 COLUMBUS – Columbus State men's tennis competed at the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase hosted by North Georgia on Saturday and Monday with two matches in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The No. 16-ranked Cougars (6-5) took a 4-0 victory over Young Harris (3-6) on Saturday and followed up with a 4-3 loss to Catawba (8-1) on Monday.
Against YHC, Columbus State swept the doubles portion of the match and produced wins from Camilo Cano at No. 1 singles, Benedek Szombathelyi at No. 3 singles, and Elias Peter at No. 6 singles.
As for the match versus Catawba, Andrea Sandrone and Peter secured a tight match in No. 1 doubles while Cano and Samer Al Tori secured a convincing 6-1 win in No. 3 doubles. Unfortunately, CSU dropped all but the No. 4 singles with Sandrone winning, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 and No. 6 singles with Yike Liu winning 6-3, 6-4.
