COLUMBUS – Columbus State University men's tennis has earned academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), recognizing the program as an All-Academic Team and honoring two members of the program as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Columbus State was recognized as one of 76 teams across NCAA Division II that was awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. In addition,
Andrea Sandrone and
Samer Al Tori were listed as ITA Scholar-Athletes, named on among a list of over 570 Division II men's student-athletes.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the academic year and be listed on the institution's eligibility form. As for the All-Academic Team, programs must have a grade point average of 3.2 or above, include all student-athletes on the eligibility form, and factor in all varsity letter winners into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
