AUGUSTA, GA. – Columbus State senior Thomas Cardona has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week following a dominant performance over the weekend that helped the No. 10 Cougars to consecutive wins over Auburn University at Montgomery and SCAD-Atlanta.

Cardona, a transfer from Cameron University, made an immediate impact in his Columbus State debut, going 4-0 across two matches for CSU on Friday and Sunday.

In the season opener against Auburn-Montgomery, Cardona teamed with junior Amer Al Tori to win 6-4 at No. 2. The duo was also victorious against SCAD-Atlanta, collecting a 6-2 win at home.

Singles play also saw the Medellin, Colombia native turn in a perfect 2-0 weekend, winning 6-2, 6-4 over AUM in the No. 1 singles match, followed by a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 against SCAD on Sunday afternoon.

Columbus State returns to action Friday, Feb. 13, for a match against the University of Montevallo at 2 p.m. at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
