AUGUSTA, GA. – Columbus State tennis players Thomas Cardona and Claudia De Lucas were named the Peach Belt Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, the League announced on Monday afternoon.

The honor is the fifth player of the week nod for the men's team and third of the season for Cardona, while De Lucas captures the award for the first time in her young career and second of the 2026 season for the women.

Cardona, a senior, guided the No. 5 Cougars to a perfect 2-0 week, including a 5-2 upset of third-ranked Flagler College on Sunday.

In a shutout of Montevallo, Cardona and teammate Samer Al Tori won 6-0 in doubles play at No. 2, while Cardona was a 6-1, 6-1 winner in the top singles flight. The Medellin, Colombia native won 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 matchup against Flagler, defeating the 37th-ranked singles player.

Cardona is currently ranked No. 23 in the latest ITA rankings with an 11-2 singles record as well as a 9-5 mark with Al Tori in doubles competition.

De Lucas, a freshman from Alcalá de Henares, Spain, was instrumental in a 3-0 week for No. 14 Columbus State with two PBC wins, including a 5-2 triumph over No. 15 Flagler at home.

In three singles contests, De Lucas won each match in straight sets and surrendered just four points while also winning 6-0 in doubles play with Finley Jeffers against Georgia Southwestern.

The men and women are both undefeated in conference play and each sit atop the Peach Belt standings with a match against No. 13/14 University of North Georgia tomorrow afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
