Dusty DeVore

Dusty DeVore was one of the premier power hitters in Division II baseball during his college career on top of being a solid first baseman for Columbus State baseball.

During his time at CSU, he totaled over 200 appearances for the Cougars and finished his career with a .282 batting average, posting 215 hits, 138 runs scored, 47 doubles, a pair of triples, 46 homers, and 172 runs batted in (RBIs). His 46 homers rank ninth in the PBC for all-time career home runs.

In his debut season as a freshman, he produced a batting average of .219, with a pair of home runs and 22 RBIs and improved significantly, achieving a batting average of .300, alongside 13 home runs and 44 RBIs in his sophomore season.

In 1996, during his junior season, DeVore had an impressive batting average of .297 and hit 22 home runs, ranking second in the nation. This remarkable achievement shattered the previous school record of 17 home runs. Additionally, he led his team with 62 RBIs and posted an outstanding slugging percentage of .658. He capped off his career with a .291 batting average in 1997 with 60 hits, 15 doubles, nine home runs, and 44 RBIs.

DeVore has gone on to become a successful business professional in Alpharetta, Ga. as an owner of his own company after graduating with his bachelor’s degree from CSU. He credits his time at CSU for his athletic mentality and the focus doing the little things right which leads to taking care of bigger things.
